You probably do not have the same high speed engine controller. The R/T Road and Track model and models with the Super Track Pack option have a higher speed engine controller than the base R/T. I think it has a speed limiter if 147 where the standard one is around 127? One way to tell the difference is the Road and Track model has the red and chrome "heritage" R/T badge and the base R/T just has a silver R/T badge on the deck lid.

The factory tune speed limiter is set to 130.
I have touched 140 in my 2013 R/T but I had to change it in the tune. I needed no other hardware or controller. I don't think there is such a thing.

The Charger R/T Road and Track model with the retro red and chrome badging has a standard higher speed engine controller that is also standard with the Super Track Pack option. It is not a separate controller but is built in to the factory engine programming. It is higher performance than a standard Charger 5.7. My Daytona is both a Road and Track model and a Super Track Pack package with the 3.06 rear. Here are the features from my 2013 and 2016 Factory brochures with the info underlined. Top speed supposed to be 147 mph. I've never tried it out but I can tell you it's as quick as any 383/440 classic muscle car and get's up to 100 mph PDQ when you kick it into passing gear on the open road. Also attached below is my best time slip and I have only made a very few time trials with it. This was completely stock with the original factory Goodyear Eagle Summer performance tires. The Road and Track model definitely has a little something extra built into it.

These cars are just pretty cool and well engineered cars no matter what the model or options are!

I don't think our Hellcats have a speed limiter. I cannot imagine the pucker factor if you actually did 203 mph, but that is awesome!

SRT's period don't have speed limiters; strictly limited by weight, HP limit and drag lol. OP, compare your as built/delivered tires with your friend's as built/delivered tires (not whatever you guys have on their now, pull a build sheet and/or window sticker: Infotainment | Vin Decoder). Whatever factory options lead to a specific set of tires installed at the factory, speed limiter is based off what those tires are capable of (liability). There'd be lawsuits aplenty if the car could was capable of going faster than the tires it was factory equipped with (without consumer alteration).

I've done 170 on a bike and developed tunnel vision...felt like going down a cannon barrel.. I read somewhere that at 200 mph if a Holstein steps out 1/4 mile ahead you will hit it regardless of how good your brakes are

Check out the mods in the signature line. All those mods equal to 1100+ horsepower. This hellcat is not stock and can do well over 203mph. Stock hellcats are rated at 209mph and this is not stock.

Here is my best ET in the 1/4 mile, right side of the slip.

PB: 60' - 1.797, 1/8 - 6.674, 1/8mph - 112.39, 1/4 - 10.15, 1/4mph - 142.18 (can not hook right now, wheels/tires are soon to arrive..just a spin fest at launch)

That's a beast but a little off topic. We're talking stock about 370HP 5.7's. Question was about why a friend's Charger with the same trim is faster than his. First, a stock 5.7 with a CAI is not going to go 155 mph but I suggested the two cars have a different speed limiter because the R/T Road and Track has a different top speed than the standard 5.7. What do you think the difference could be? Maybe his friend is not being honest about how stock his car is? On the other hand, you will definitely dip well down into the 9's when you get your 60' down in the 1.4's! Very cool!

The factory programmed software that coincoides with the tires installed. Pure and simple. Would not surprise me in the slightest that the R & T gets better tires than the standard R/T.

You are correct. The Road and Track comes standard with all season Z rated 187 mph performance tires. Summer (Z rated) performance tires are optional but are standard with the Super Track Pack option

That's a good time with those tires but this thread is not about drag racing. The OP wants to know why his friend's R/T with the same trim goes 25 mph faster than his on top speed. They are obviously not both the exact same packages.

True. Just hard to find a correct comparable drag time.

Having different speed controllers is most likely the deal. I know Pursuits came with the Highspeed which gave it like 156/8 top out, however the department ordering could option for a 136/8 speed as well.

I have a 2021 Challenger R/T with the Super Track Pack and have had it to 145
